J.L. Bedsole Foundation Scholars Program is dedicated to empowering the youth of southwest Alabama by providing scholarships that remove financial barriers to higher education. Our mission is to foster academic excellence and support the region’s future leaders. Beyond scholarships, the foundation promotes civic, cultural, and economic development in Mobile, Baldwin, Clarke, Monroe, and Washington Counties.

Our History

Founded by Joseph Linyer Bedsole in 1949, the foundation reflects his lifelong commitment to education and community development. Mr. Bedsole was a prominent businessman and civic leader in Mobile, instrumental in initiatives like the United Way of Southwest Alabama and the Mobile Infirmary.

Grants and Contributions

The foundation supports qualifying organizations in areas such as healthcare, education, social services, and research, focusing on improving the health and welfare of the community.

Promoting Youth Health and Wellness Programs

  • Aid to Hospitals, Schools, Universities, and Research Institutions
  • Support for Welfare Agencies, Orphanages, and Care Institutions for the Aged, Disabled, or Needy
